Watermelon Inspired Tie Dye Design

A follower on Instagram had asked me to whip up a watermelon tapestry an I just loved the idea! Didn't want to make a literal watermelon shape so we brainstormed to come up with this simple and absolutely beautiful watermelon inspired design.

Starting out the creation is a hand tied and dyed sun mandala that transforms into a lotus blossom which is the pink flesh of the melon. The rest of the tap was tied in a spiderweb and dyed green to portray the watermelon rind. I was a bit nervous when I added the black on top of the lotus blossom for it was too wet and I thought it would take away my light pink color but luckily it turned out fantastic! I will be making more to list in my Etsy tie dye shop.
